Welcome To An Old Pioneer Homestead
A gracious family home. Relax and enjoy the tranquil gardens
of a home built by the Macfarlane pioneering family who settled the region in 1850.
Coldstream (the literal translation of the
Maori name Waimakariri) was the original homestead
built to oversee their 2500 acre farm. The first homestead was built in 1860
but rebuilt in 1885. Invited guests play croquet, tennis, sit on
one of the many verandahs, watch the sheep in the adjoining farm
paddocks and wander with a wine though the formal gardens. Hosts speak English,
and a little bit of French (Francais), German (Deutsch) and Dutch (Nederlands).
Taxi service to Christchurch Airport possible.
